THE 9 QUESTIONS YOU MUST ASK ANY POTENTIAL ROOFER

Hire a Competent Roofing Company

Finding a reliable roofing contractor is the first step in getting a new roof or fixing an old one.

having all necessary state and municipal permits in place.

having a minimum of $1,000,000 in general liability insurance.

DIY Roofing vs. Hiring a Professional

Putting in a new roof or fixing an old one is a significant project and financial commitment for any homeowner. Finding a dependable roofer to work with is critical to completing the project correctly. This person should be knowledgeable about roofing materials, safety precautions, and local building regulations. The roofing company also guarantees your satisfaction with a number of warranty plans that can give you peace of mind for many years.

DIY roofing is a good resource if you’re interested in fixing or replacing it on your own, but a professional roofer should be contacted for any major roofing work.

Checklist for Selecting a Roofing Company

Most homeowners will make a short list of potential roofing companies, often between two and five, and then interview a subset of them.

The internet and personal recommendations are good places to start when looking for qualified roofers, but they may not provide you with enough information to make an informed decision about which contractors to choose.

Inquire About These 9 Things Before Hiring a Roofer

It’s not wise to hire a roofer for a big project based on word of mouth alone, but here are 9 questions to ask to help you narrow down your options and find the best one for the job.

  1. Have you checked to see if your insurance is sufficient? The roofer you hire should have insurance to cover any mishaps that may occur on the job.

  2. Can you provide extended protection for both the product and the labor involved? Your roofer should be able to provide you with a limited guarantee, which may cover defects in materials and/or labor.

  3. Are you going to explain my warranty to me? If you have a problem, your roofer should have made it clear how to get in touch with them and what the warranty covers. Find out if the cost to repair faulty shingles is based on a percentage of the original price, the full price, or if there are any additional fees for labor. Check out Owens Corning’s information on their roofing warranty offerings.

  4. When repairing my roof, what materials will you use? It’s important to hire a roofer that uses reputable materials, as not all shingles are created equal.

  5. Are you able to offer me with a formal quote? An accurate description of the work to be done, including any that may need to be subcontracted, should be included in the estimate provided by your roofing contractor.

  6. Does your construction meet all state and county regulations? Your roofer needs to be familiar with and abide by all applicable municipal regulations.

  7. Please provide a list of references, if possible. Inquire about and contact a few of their references.

  8. Are you going to check everything out carefully? In addition to looking for storm damage, your roofer should check the deck, attic, flashing, chimney, soil stacks, and any other places where the roof goes through the house.

  9. Is ventilation something you’ll look into? The roofing contractor you hire should inspect the attic’s ventilation and explain why it’s so important. Checking the roof from within the attic might reveal whether or not the current ventilation system is doing

Best roofing company in the Metroplex. Korrect worked with my insurance company to get a larger adjustment and make sure all the hail damage to my roof, gutters, and windows was repaired properly. All I had to pay was my deductible.
